AP sources: Players, union agree no Braun opinion

NEW YORK (AP) -- Two people involved in the agreement tell The Associated Press there will be no written decision in the case overturning Ryan Braun's drug suspension.

Major League Baseball and its players' association announced changes to their drug agreement Thursday in the wake of the February decision by arbitrator Shyam Das to overturn the 50-game suspension for a positive drug test. As part of the deal, the sides agreed privately that Das will not issue a written opinion in the case.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity Thursday because the sides didn't make public the agreement not to have a written decision.

Braun's side argued his urine sample was handled improperly and Das agreed. He was to give a written opinion within 30 days but did was told to hold off.
