The Tigerton softball team hasn't spent much time sweating this season. In the Tigers' first 27 games of the year, they won each time by an average of 11 runs per game. But game 28 was a different story.
Against Spencer in yesterday's division 4 sectional final, Tigerton barely escaped with a 4-2 win in 8 innings.
The Rockets nearly won with runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the 7th, but Tigerton got out of the jam and scored twice in the 8th to advance to its third straight state tournament.
They won the state title in 2010 and after coming up short last year, the Tigers are using Thursday's dramatic win as motivation to finish the job.
