WOOD COUNTY (WAOW) -

Wood County authorities say three people were injured in a two car crash just after 9:30 Saturday morning. Police blocked both lanes of WIS 13 between Hickory Road and Elm Road in Pittsville for more than 8 hours to investigate.

They say 16-year-old Anthony Marten of Pittsville was driving west on Hwy 13 north when he swerved onto the shoulder. According to investigators, Marten over-corrected and crossed the centerline into the path of another vehicle.

They say that vehicle was driven by 46-year-old Rhonda Sherman of Neillsville. She was ejected from the car following the crash. A 3-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car was pulled from the car by a passing motorist before it burst into flames.

Sherman was airlifted to Ministry St. Joseph's hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities say she is currently listed in serious condition. The 3-year-old child and 16-year-old Pittsville boy were transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Marten was kept overnight for observation.

The boy has been released.
