Greenwood hopes to repeat history at state

The Greenwood baseball team will make the program's fourth appearance at the state baseball tournament this week.

The Indians will also have a chance to do something they haven't done since before the players were even born.

The Indians are going to the state tournament in division four and will face a Johnson Creek team they know nothing about.

But that hasn't dented their confidence.

In the sectional final Greenwood fell behind by four runs, but the 25-0 Indians always felt in control and went on to win 5-4.

The last time Greenwood made it to the state tournament was in 1990.  That year, the Indians won both the football and baseball state titles.

Greenwood will have a chance to do that again this year after winning the football championship this past fall.

There are many members of the baseball team that also were part of the football title team.

The Indians say that experience in Madison will help them in Appleton.

Like all of Greenwood's opponents have found out it's certainly hard to beat a team that never expects to lose.
