There's a new place in Wausau for gardening enthusiasts to exercise their green thumbs.
Volunteers broke ground Tuesday morning on the East Towne Community Garden, located at 727 Jefferson Street.
The space was donated by the City of Wausau.
It provides area residents, who don't have garden, a place to grow.
"We decided that we needed to look for more spots and more areas in the community to be able to have access to be able to grow their own food," says community garden volunteer Janet Schertz.
A similar garden was put in place on 2nd Street back in 2010.
If you are interested in reserving a plot, please contact Janet Schertz at 715-848-4884.
