Thursday night's storms created did some damage the night before a weekend basketball tournament.
Volunteers were surprised to find a mess when they came to finish setting up for the 21st annual Gus Macker on Friday morning. Winds whipped through the area around Newman Catholic High -- knocking hoops on their sides and causing other damage. Quite a different scene out there on Friday afternoon -- after volunteers made quick work of the area. Now they say they're just about ready for Saturday's 3-on-3 tournament. Many teams said there's just one thing on their mind -- winning.
This event is Newman's athletic boosters' biggest fundraiser of the year. Organizers said they have backup plans in case of inclement weather. But they're excited for the first tip off. That will be at about 8:30 AM on Saturday morning.
