La Crosse—June 17, 2012—Alex Gunn of the La Crosse Loggers went eight strong innings against the Wisconsin Woodchucks, shutting down the ‘Chucks' offense as the ‘Chucks dropped their fifth straight game, 4-2.
The Woodchucks were held scoreless in the top of the first before the Loggers broke onto the board in the bottom of the inning. With runners on the corners and one out, Rich Prigatano drove a ball to center field that was caught by Brooks Braga, but it was deep enough to score Andrew Bailey from third and put the Loggers on top 1-0.
In the bottom of the second, Matt Chapman was hit on his left shoulder on the first pitch he saw from Woodchuck reliever Jackson Lowery. Chapman went to second on a groundout by Lucas Witt and later scored on a single by Tyler Kuresa to make it a 2-0 Logger lead.
The Woodchucks would cut the lead in half as they got on the scoreboard in the top of the third. With runners on first and second and one out, Brandon Cogswell grounded into a fielder's choice, but the relay to first was dropped by pitcher Alex Gunn, which allowed Brad McKewon to score from second base.
The Loggers would score for the third consecutive inning in the bottom of the third to extend their lead. With Prigatano on first and two outs, Tyler Servais blasted a ball far over the right field wall to put the Loggers on top 4-1.

The score would stayed locked at 4-1 until the ninth as the Woodchucks sent six pitchers to the mound and held the Loggers off the board after the third.
The Woodchucks would score a run in the ninth on an error by Brandon Bednar, but it would not matter as the Loggers swept the series with the 4-2 victory.
