Activists say shelling is continuing in the central Syrian city of Homs, along with clashes between rebel fighters and troops.
Amid the continued fighting, Syria's government says it's ready to act on a U.N. appeal to evacuate civilians trapped in the city for more than a week. But Syria is accusing rebels of blocking efforts to get civilians out.
Syrian troops backed by helicopter gunships are also said to be bombarding a town north of Homs that is controlled by rebels.
A British-based human rights group is appealing again for world leaders to step in and stop the shelling that has trapped more than 1,000 families in Homs.
