Murder victim was well-known bowler

Kerby Kniess, a Wausau man found dead Tuesday morning, was a well-known bowler in the area.

He worked at Day's Bowl-A-Dome for more than 20 years. There, he maintained the lanes and helped with other projects.

Friends say Kniess was a talented bowler, scoring a perfect 300 several times. His name is displayed on the wall of high scores in the bowling alley, but his friends say they will remember more than his strikes and spares.

"There probably isn't anybody that bowls in this area that doesn't know Kerby," said Dean Day, Owner, Day's Bowl-A-Dome. "If they bowled here, at a tournament or a league, he has been here for 30 years so he has made a lot of acquaintances. A lot of people know him and I've never heard anybody say an ill word about him. "

Friends say Kniess was not married, but did have family in the area.
