Red Cross officials say the nation's blood supply is very low and they're urging people to donate now.
Leaders say an early start to spring could be a contributing factor to the shortfall. Nationally, Red Cross officials say 50,000 blood donations are needed to meet demand.
They say it's important to donate and you shouldn't be worried if your a first-time donor.
"You go through and you talk with a really nice staff member and they talk you through the whole thing. They stay with you. It's really almost a very relaxing kind of situation," Marathon County Regional Director Wendy Savage said.
