A lawyer for the husband of a Detroit-area woman who was strangled in January says his client has been arrested.
David Griem, an attorney for Grosse Pointe Park businessman Robert Bashara, tells The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press his client was arrested Monday on suspicion of solicitation to murder a witness.
According to Griem, Bashara is not accused in the death of his wife, Jane Bashara, but rather with trying to have Joseph Gentz killed. Gentz is a handyman charged in Jane Bashara's slaying
Griem says he's "not often left speechless, but this is one of those occasions."
Bashara is being held in the Wayne County jail and could be arraigned as early as Wednesday.
Wayne County prosecutor's office spokeswoman Maria Miller had no comment.
