Sheila Miech retiring as UWSP Women's Soccer Coach

After 25 years, Sheila Miech is going to retire as the only women's head soccer coach in UW Stevens Point history.

Only one other female has ever reached 200 wins as the coach of a womens soccer team.
In her time, Miech has led her players to 14 WIAC championships, 15 WIAC tournament titles, and 70 straight WIAC wins.  That's the longest conference winning streak in NCAA history.

In 20 years of playing in the WIAC, Miech's teams have only lost 12 matches.

"I just feel like it's time to let go. It's kind of a bittersweet feeling," Sheila Miech said in a Newsline 9 exclusive. "Very sad
that I have to be leaving such a great program, but at the same time, I'm going to continue in
another direction and try some new opportunities.
"I don't know what those are going to be yet, I just know that I will not be getting back into
coaching... at a head coaching level."

Miech wanted to make sure to thank everybody for helping her during her time at UWSP.

Be sure to tune in to Newsline 9 on Tuesday to hear more from Sheila Miech.
