Republican Jerry Petrowski sworn in as Wi Senator from 29th district

Republican Jerry Petrowski has been officially sworn in as a Wisconsin State  Senator. The ceremony took place at the Marathon County Courthouse in Wausau.

Petrowksi told those gathered in the courtroom that he wanted to take the oath of office in his home district, rather than Madison, because he represents the people here. During the coming months, Petrowski said  he plans  to hold listening sessions to hear from those he represents. He predicts job creation will be the big issue: with an emphasis on the manufacturing sector as well as the agriculture and timber industry.

Earlier this month, Petrowski was elected in a recall election, defeating Democratic State Representative Donna Seidel, for the vacant 29th Senate District seat. Republican Pam Galloway resigned from the seat, earlier this year.

The 29th district covers Marathon, Taylor, Price, Rusk and Sawyer counties.

Before the recall election, Petrowski represented the 86th Assembly District. That seat likely will remain empty until 2013.
