Former Olympian brings wrestling camp to Marshfield
More than 100 wrestlers from all over central Wisconsin are taking part in the Chertow wrestling summer camp this week in Marshfield.
The camp is led by former Olympic wrestler Ken Chertow.
Each session is designed to help kids develop their wrestling skills and with the Olympics just around the corner, learning from a athlete who's taken part in the games gets these kids fired up to wrestle.
"Because it's an Olympic year and the Olympics are right around the corner, it probably fires them up and there's more talk about wrestling, more talk about the Olympics," Ken Chertow said. "Still the concentration is folkstyle, American folkstyle wrestling, but we focus on some Olympic style and have some fun with it, so definitely extra inspiration for them."
"This guy has a lot of experience, he knows what he's talking about, everybody here, we have the best people in the country, I think, here training us," said Andres Aguirre from Marshfield."
"I want to be in the Olympics and that, like, encourages me to try harder," said Sam Mitchell from Marshfield.
