With less than 12 hours remaining for fans to cast online votes through the All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot, campaigning for their favorite players continues to trend at all-time highs – highlighted by yesterday's record-breaking 3.8 million online ballots cast. Over the past two days alone, 6.7 million ballots have been cast online at MLB.com and the 30 Club websites in an unprecedented close to the races for the 17 starting positions in the 83rd All-Star Game on July 10 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. Yesterday's online total surpassed the previous one-day record of 3.4 million set on July 2, 2008 – the final day of balloting. Voting continues until tonight's deadline at 11:59 p.m. (EDT).
As of the last official updates, the closest races included the National League outfield and third base where San Francisco Giants teammates Melky Cabrera and Pablo Sandoval again made pushes for starting spots yesterday with 125% and 138% more online votes, respectively, than leaders Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers and David Wright of the New York Mets.
