Fire danger conditions vary across our viewing area. While in Waushara County, we saw a DNR sign posted with danger levels at high. Portage County was at moderate and Marathon County low.
In southern Wisconsin conditions are very dry. The DNR issued burning restrictions for 11 counties that go into effect on Friday in areas that are under control of the Department of Natural Resources. Counties included are Crawford, Richland, Sauk, Columbia, Marquette Green Lake and parts of Iowa, Grant, Dane, Adams and Juneau.
What the restrictions mean are all burn permits are suspended.
The ban includes: fireworks, combustible materials in burn barrels, campfires (except in developed camping areas with metal fire pits), outdoor disposal of ashes or smoking materials is also prohibited.
Dry conditions and extreme temperatures resulted in the burning restrictions.
Outside the DNR management areas, some local municipalities are also taking steps to reduce fire danger. With the Fourth of July holiday looming, the risk of fire has resulted in limits have been places on burning and fireworks.
