New campaign brings awareness to bikers, drivers sharing roads
WAUSAU (WAOW) -
New steps are being taken to raise awareness about bikes on the roads. A campaign kicked off this week -- a part of the statewide "Share and Be Aware" program. Signs are up around the Wausau area, reminding all drivers to share space on the roads.
"Everyone needs to share the roadway and that's why it's called Share and Be Aware," said John Nowaczyk, who owns Sprocketz Bike Shop in Weston. "Until we can get more and safer accommodations in place for pedestrians and cyclists, we have to share what we have."
Yard signs are also up thanks to donations from a few businesses.
If you want to donate to the cause, you can stop in at Sprocketz in Weston. You can also go there next week if you want a sign to put up in your yard.
