Thousands attend Riverfront Rendezvous in Stevens Point

Organizers say this weekend's warm weather helped boost attendance at the 28th annual Riverfront Rendezvous in Stevens Point.

They say thousands attended a free fireworks show Sunday night on the river, and this year's event drew more people than years past.

Riverfront Rendezvous is a free event, that features live performances and activities. Some people say the fireworks show is an annual tradition they look forward to every year.

"We typically are out here about 5 a.m. to get this spot. We've been here, within this 50 feet, for the last 20 years, but you've got to get here early to get a good spot," Mike Bronk from Custer said.

The event also helps boost business downtown. A Polito's pizza manager told Newsline 9 they keep a lot of extra dough on hand to feed walk in customers.
