Community leaders in our area are taking precautions to keep people safe in the heat. Cooling center have been established in our area.
 
In Marathon County, libraries will serve as cooling stations on Thursday, July 5:
Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau – 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Athens, 211 Caroline St., Athens – 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Edgar, 224 S. Third Ave., Edgar – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Hatley, 435 Curtis Ave., Hatley – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Marathon City, 515 Washington St., Marathon – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Mosinee, 123 Main St., Mosinee – 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Rothschild, 224 Grand Ave., Rothschild – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Spencer, 105 Park St., Spencer – 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Stratford, 400 N. Fourth St., Stratford – 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In Wood County, cooling stations will be opened based on need. If you need help, call your nearest fire department.
In Wisconsin Rapids please call 715-421-6277, Marshfield please call 715-486-2094 extension 0, and Pittsville please call 715-884-6514.
The fire department personnel will then direct you to where the cooling station will be located. Cooling stations will be open from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. through Friday.
