According to the Wood County deputy coroner, 57-year-old Dennis Taschner died of an apparent heart attack.
Just before 7 p.m. last night, officials say Taschner was found in Lake Wazeecha in Grand Rapids. They say he was probably swimming for quite some time.
The coroner's office says a toxicology will be done, and the results will take a few weeks.
Grand Rapids police have identified the body of the man pulled from Lake Wazeecha yesterday as 57-year-old Dennis Taschner.
Grand Rapids Police Chief Dave Lewandowski told Newsline 9 that investigators believe Taschner had been swimming for quite some time. He says alcohol and foul play were not believed to be factors. Lewandowski says it could have been medically related.
The investigation is ongoing and police are awaiting the coroner's report.
Lewandowski says Taschner owned property on the lake.
Grand Rapids authorities say the body of a 40 to 50 year old man was pulled from Lake Wazeecha just before seven o'clock Wednesday night.
They responded to the area after someone called 911 reporting that they saw a body in the water.
Authorities say attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful.
