Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials say very warm weather caused several sections of pavement on Hwy 29 to buckle Wednesday night.
One piece exploded near exit 149 heading west in Marathon County.
Crews spent the afternoon and evening hours patching up breaks.
Marathon County officials say at one point Wednesday night, there were six reports of buckling pavement in the county.
After a few hours, all lanes and portions of road that had been blocked were back open.
Cool and dry, then snow returning Thursday night with several inches. Another storm by late Saturday.
