MADISON (AP) -

New campaign finance reports show Democrat Tom Barrett spent $3.7 million in the weeks around last month's recall election.

Barrett's campaign says the reports cover the period between May 22 and June 30. They show Barrett spent $3.68 million, raised $2.47 million and had $252,000 left.

Republican Gov. Scott Walker easily defeated Barrett in the June 5 election. His reports show he spent nearly $7 million from May 22 through June 27. He raised $6.8 million and had $1.6 million on hand.

Walker has now raised roughly $37.4 million since he took office in January 2011, obliterating his own record of $11 million raised in the 2010 gubernatorial race and single-handedly matching the total spending by all candidates and outside groups in that contest.
