Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says he has ordered his country's military attaches to leave the Venezuelan Embassy in Paraguay, citing threats against diplomats.
Chavez says he made the decision following death threats against Venezuelan diplomats. He says the military attaches were sent to Argentina.
Chavez made the announcement a day after Paraguay's new government withdrew its ambassador from Caracas. It accused Venezuela of trying to coax Paraguayan military officers into opposing the congressional impeachment and ouster last month of President Fernando Lugo, an ally of Chavez.
