NFL training camps kick off in just under three weeks and when the Jacksonville Jaguars get back to work, they'll likely have a new starter at defensive end.
Iola native Austen Lane is entering his third year with the Jaguars.
Lane missed the final 10 games of the 2011 season with a shoulder injury, but says that shoulder is now 100 percent good to go.
In his first two seasons, Lane saw limited action in 17 games, but with veteran d-lineman Aaron Kampman now gone, he says he's ready to seize the starting job.
"It all depends how this camp goes for me," Lane said. "Obviously, right now, I think it's my job to lose and that's not something I'm gonna...I'm gonna give it my 110 percent to try to keep it so as of right now I'm the starting left defensive end. Hopefully we'll see what happens with training camp and we'll take it from there."
