Lincoln County is getting rid of a longtime piece of fair history.
The grandstands at the Lincoln County fairgrounds were damaged in the wind storm a few weeks ago and condemned. Demolition started this week to knock them down.
The grandstands were built in the 1920s in Michigan and brought to Wisconsin some time later.
"In 1940, at that time, the grandstand was moved here to Lincoln County, and it's been with us ever since," said Dale Christiansen, Lincoln County fair director. "There's a lot of fond memories kind of in a pile behind us here."
The county plans to rent bleachers for the upcoming fair that starts next week.
