LANGLADE COUNTY (WAOW) -

A former Langlade County Sheriff's deputy has been charged with 22 felonies relating to sexual assault of several children.

Michael Brayton, 25, of Gleason was arrested Tuesday. According to the Langlade County Sheriff's Department, Brayton was charged with multiple counts including sexual assault of a child, child enticement, and exposing genitals.

The Associated Press reports the charges are linked to incidents in the Elcho area with four girls, ages 18, 17, 16, and 15.

Brayton was employed as a Langlade County deputy sheriff from July 2008 until June 11, 2012. In a news release, Sheriff Bill Greening said none of the alleged crimes happened while Brayton was on duty.

Michael Brayton appeared in Langlade County Court on Tuesday. His cash bond was set at $50,000. He was ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victims. He was also told not to have unsupervised contact with girls under 18.

The Marathon County District Attorney's office is prosecuting the case.

Newsline 9 has left a message with Sheriff Greening seeking comment on the case, but he has not returned our calls.
