Wis. DNR launches urban tree survey

The state Department of Natural Resources is launching another survey of urban trees.

The DNR has contracted with the Lumberjack Resource Conservation & Development Council to put together an inventory of trees in more than 85 communities across the state. Field crews hope to complete their work by mid-September.

DNR officials say the data will be used to project the composition, condition and value of trees and the benefits they provide.

The DNR launched its first urban tree survey in 2002.
