One of the many events going on this weekend is the Balloon Rally and the Big Bull Falls BBQ Rib Fest in Wausau.
Organizers say more than 25,000 people from across the area will pack the Wausau airport this weekend for the hot air balloons and mouth-watering ribs.
The balloon glow took place Friday evening, but the hot air balloons did not take to the skies as scheduled. Windy weather kept the balloons grounded. Pilots say it was too dangerous to fly.
"We'll fly tomorrow morning, we'll fly tomorrow night," said balloon pilot John Ross. "Balloons are built to fly. They don't like to be tied to the ground."
But on the ground, thousands enjoyed the festival's other attractions: pig racing and barbecued ribs. Vendors say sticky fingers are good for business.
Andrew Jepsen's signature flavor has taken the Rib Fest's top prize four years in a row. The Milwaukee vendor says he plans on winning again this year. We'll see if his luck continues.
On Saturday night, a fireworks show is scheduled. Since there were a lot of disappointed people after the 4th of July fireworks were canceled, organizers expect a strong turnout.
More snow, freezing rain, sleet, and wind on the way.
