A busy weekend in our area brought millions of dollars to Central Wisconsin.
One big event, Hodag Country Music Festival in Rhinelander.
This year marked the 35th annual country music festival and organizers say it was the biggest. Early estimates show roughly 50,000 people attended the week long event. City leaders say the event has always been a big money maker for the area. But, this year more than $4 million was funneled into the local economy.
"It's a huge impact on our local economy," Executive director for the Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce Lara Reed said. "I think what we need to remember is to not take advantage of it. The family out there does a great job running this event and we are so thankful that we can have an event like this."
This year's event featured 17 country music artists. Organizers say the highlight was the record breaking crowd for headliner Eric Church. They say close to 40,000 people packed the concert area for that one performance.
