Stevens Point grad Ben Provisor begins his Olympic wrestling journey August 5th. That's when greco-roman competition begins in London.
Thursday night, hundreds packed five star lanes in Plover in a send-off celebration for Provisor. The 22-year-old wrestler said he's focused and ready to compete in the Olympics, but once he returns home, his focus will turn to his future.
Provisor told Newsline 9 at Thursday night's celebration he plans to join the Army after the Olympics and while he serves he'll be able to continue his wrestling career.
"The Army has a, what it's called, it's called a world class athlete program," Provisor said. "Actually, their best team is the Greco-Roman wrestling team. Being in WCAP lets you live a normal life and wrestle. I'll be an active duty soldier, be able to make money, have good insurance benefits, unlike I do just living at the training center."
