Mexico leftist claims vote-buying list

Mexico's leftist presidential candidate says he has a list of names of 4,891 people who allegedly received money in a vote-buying scheme he claims influenced the July 1 presidential election.

Leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says he won't release the names for now, but will do so "if necessary."

Lopez Obrador says the people on the list got pre-paid debit cards from the old ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI.

He said Wednesday that about 260,000 cards were distributed nationwide, worth a total of about $74 million.

Lopez Obrador is appealing his 6.6-percent loss to PRI candidate Enrique Pena Nieto.

Pena Nieto's party denies it bought votes, and accuses Lopez Obrador of financing his political activities in past years with money from improper contracts with the Mexico City government.
