Marathon Co. farmer accused of firing gun


A Marathon County farmer is accused of firing a gun, because he was angry about a low flying airplane Tuesday morning.

The sheriff's department says the farmer in the Town of Cassel called authorities asking to shoot down the plane, because it was disturbing his cattle.

Deputies went to his house, after a neighbor heard gunshots.

Authorities tell us the farmer fired into the ground to send a message.

Deputies say the man was not arrested.

But the sheriff's department will send the case to the district attorney's office with a recommended charge of disorderly conduct.
