Merrill city council members met tonight to discuss the specifics of a new Walmart Superstore.
No decisions were made, but members did discuss traffic flow and property owners on all four intersections of the new superstore.
Last month, the council approved a permit to allow the store.
Officials say the new superstore will be open 24 hours a day, with full grocery and pharmacy.
But this project is causing mixed reviews.
"It's progress, it's where the growth is in the communities, we certainly respect that I was a small town merchant for years too," said Roger Strand, a Merrill resident since 1962.
"I'm concerned about the traffic flow of Highway 64 and Pine Ridge Avenue because we have a lumber yard," said business owner Kent Johnson.
The super center is expected to open next year, at the corner of Highway 64 and Pine Ridge Avenue.
The old store will stay open while the new one is being built, then be put on the market.
Snow on the way at times next week.
