The future of the west-side Fire Station No. 2 in Merrill is still up in the air.
Merrill city leaders met Tuesday to discuss the expansion opportunity for the station located on 1303 W. Main Street, but no decision was made.
Presentations were given and some questions were raised as to where the money will come from, safety for those living on the west-side of town and what's going to happen to the old building.
Officials say they are looking into 3 different plans for what to do with Fire Station No. 2.
The first plan would save a portion of Merrill's main fire station, the second would demolish that station and build a new one and the third would build a new station, but in another part of the city.
All three of those options include closing Fire Station No. 2., which is causing some controversy.
Officials say the next meeting will be held on September 4th, where they hope to have a decision made on this project.
Cool and bright Wednesday. Light snow likely Thursday night. A storm may hit Saturday.
