Funding has been renewed for a program in Central
Wisconsin that helps low income students prepare for college.
Federal funding for the Upward Bound program at UWSP had
ended in June. But leaders say the program will continue for at least five more

schools, by helping them develop skills to be successful in college.
"I really thought we were not going to be around," UWSP
Upward Bound Program Director Henry Wojnicki said. "But I always had that spark
of hope and my students did, and now the word is already traveling over
Facebook and other social media," he added.
The program helps more than 90 students every year and it
costs more than $400,000 a year to run.
