The Marshfield Tigers are projected by WisSports.net to win the Valley Football Association South.
That's despite state finalist Wisconsin Rapids sharing the same conference.
The Tigers finished last season with the top offense and the top defense in the Valley.
But they'll lose Elliot Ashbeck under center and replace him with Bo Howard. On the other side of the ball, the Tigers will switch from a 5-2 defense to a 4-3.
And Marshfield expects to stay strong stopping the big time rushing attacks of the VFA South.
"Run stop is great," said senior running back Riley Gebelein. "We scrimmaged each other last Saturday, I barely got any yards. Our run stop is phenomenal. It's going to be pretty important to stop the run this year."
"From day one, coach has put the emphasis on stopping the run," said Ross Zillman, a senior linebacker for Marshfield. "Most of our drills it's all about getting our reads right and filling those holes and stop the run. Because if you stop the run, we have good d-backs, we can stop the pass."
