Brewers release Randy Wolf

Posted:

The Brewers Wednesday released starting pitcher Randy Wolf and recalled infielder Jeff Bianchi from triple-A Nashville.

Wolf was one of the most consistent pitchers for the Brewers during their 2011 run to the NL Central crown. He finished last season 13-10 with a 3.61 ERA, but he's just 1-8 in his last nine decisions and 3-10 overall. Wolf's ERA has ballooned to 5.65, the worst of his career. Wolf hasn't been getting unlucky as his HR/9 (1.3), K/BB (2.17), and BABIP (.338) are all around his career averages.

In eight games with the Brewers earlier this season, Bianchi went 0-for-13 at the plate with three strikeouts.
