Two new business developments are proposed for Wausau's west side. The Ghidorzi Companies are the developers for both.
One is a gas station near Menard's. The other is a building on the corner of Stewart, near Day's Bowl-A-Dome. The corner property would involve space for three tenants, one of which is a restaurant, which requires a drive-thru. The name has not yet been revealed.
Some business owners have voiced concerns about the plans for Stewart Avenue corner project. They fear increased traffic will cause problems. Dean Day of Day's Bowl-A-Dome said, "I am all for development, but I am very concerned about the traffic flow."
Developer, Chris Ghidorzi argues that recent improvements to the corner and road shouldn't be a problem, "The city, county and state have done a lot to improve the infrastructure. I think it will keep traffic moving."
The Wausau Plan Commission granted rezoning approval for the projects. The full city council is expected to take up discussion on the plans, when it meets in September.
