Truckloads of concrete poured for Wausau curling center
WAUSAU (WAOW) -
Workers started to pour more than 20 truckloads of concrete at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. It needs to settle for about sixty days before workers can move forward with making ice on top. But curling leaders said there's still plenty more to do.
"We'll probably be busy finishing the rest of the facility as far as carpentry work and everything else and hope to have ice in November," said Corey Sandquist, who is the Wausau Curling Club president.
Curling enthusiasts have been pitching in with the effort this summer. Organizers said they were able to get done with volunteer work a week earlier than they planned with the help of people in the community. They said everything is on schedule to open the world-class facility in November.
