Gov. Scott Walker has asked the state commerce agency to assemble a coalition toward developing venture capital legislation aimed at creating more jobs in Wisconsin.
Walker proposed similar legislation last year, but it died amid disagreement among politicians and special interest groups over how the program would work. Walker hopes that putting together a coalition of groups ahead of time will lead to a unified voice that will make it easier to develop a new program.
A Walker spokesman tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/OdYJAC ) the governor has asked the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. to pull together a coalition of individuals.
Agency spokesman Tom Thieding says it's too early to discuss all the ideas that have been discussed, but WEDC is "excited" about the opportunity to bring the coalition together.
