Police learn more about person of interest in Low's disappearance

Newsline 9 has learned more about the man police are saying is the person of interest in Stephanie Low's disappearance.

Kristopher Torgerson, 32, also known as Spider, has been in trouble. According to on-line court documents, in 2009 the Wausau man was found guilty on charges of battery. In 2012, he was found guilty of felony bail jumping. And last year, Torgerson was found guilty of resisting and obstructing an officer.

Now, Wausau police say Torgerson could lead them to answers in the disappearance of Stephanie Low. Low went missing from her Wausau apartment in 2010.

Police say Torgerson was an acquaintance of Low's when she went missing. Days after her disappearance, Torgerson was brought in for questioning. But now, police say new information has led them to name Torgerson as a person of interest.

Torgerson is currently being held in the Marathon County jail on a probation hold. On August 8, Torgerson was arrested for felony drug charges, a violation of his probation. But, officers wouldn't say how long Torgerson might remain behind bars. They did say they'll continue to question Torgerson and others as their investigation continues.

Right now, police say Torgerson is not considered a suspect and has not been charged with a crime in Low's disappearance.

Torgerson is scheduled to appear in court next month on those felony drug charges. Authorities say more information could be released next week.
