Venezuela orders TV cameraman arrested in shooting
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -
Authorities in Venezuela have ordered the arrest of a cameraman for a TV news channel for his alleged role in a confrontation at a rural community that purportedly led to the wounding of a farm worker by a gunshot.
Interior Minister Tarek El Aissami said Friday that police are looking for Globovision cameraman Tolosa Robert Frank Torres.
Aissami told state television that Tolosa Torres and other employees of Globovision entered a rural community in the state of Aragua without permission and were approached by local residents. He says a gunshot then wounded a farm machinery operator in the neck.
The official notes that Globovision is a critic of President Hugo Chavez's government and accuses the channel of manipulating and distorting reports on the administration.
