It's still early in the high school football season, but conference races are starting to heat up all throughout central Wisconsin.
In the Central Wisconsin Conference-8, Pacelli had won nine straight against Amherst dating back to 2002. But last season, the Falcons finally ended that streak by beating Pacelli en route to a share of the CWC-8 title.
Both teams entered Friday coming off big week one wins, but Amherst would be the only team flying high after Friday night.
The Falcons scored early and often and their defense held Pacelli scoreless on their way to a 38-0 win.
Colby's Brandon Wickersham scored four touchdowns to lead the Hornets to a 35-0 win over Spencer-Columbus, while Marathon's Collin Seubert threw six touchdown passes to lift Marathon over Phillips 57-0.
At Northland Pines, the state's leading rusher Austin Ramesh had another big game, running for more than 200 yards to lead the Eagles over Bessemer, MI 53-15.
