UPDATE: Power restored to most in central Wisconsin

Strong thunderstorms moved across central Wisconsin Tuesday evening. According to Wisconsin Public Service, 5,959 customers in Wausau have lost power.

According to WPS Community Relations Leader Kelly Zagrzebski, most of the power was restored by 4:00 a.m. According to WPS's website, only a handful of customers are still without power as of 8:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Newsline 9 has received reports of damage across the area. Trees have been blown down and some power lines have fallen. Also, at the interchange of Highway 29 and 51, a sign bent over to the ground after winds higher than 60 miles per hour swept through the area.
