UWSP soccer takes down Carthage

STEVENS POINT, Wis.- After falling behind 1-0 early in the game, the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team  shut down the Lady Reds of Carthage College and coasted to a 4-1 victory on Tuesday afternoon.

Carthage jumped out to any early lead against the Pointers when  Jessica Socha scored in the ninth minute off a penalty kick.

The Pointers defense shutdown the Lady Reds the rest of the game and the offense took over from there.

Two Pointers freshmen scored their first goals of their college careers as Sarah Meylor (Watetown, WI/Watertown) found the back of the net in the 24th minute and Kaylee Tadych (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) capped off the Pointer scoring in the 82nd minute.

Seniors Jesica Ruch and Kim Jobke (Menomonee Falls, WI/Sussex Hamilton) also recorded goals for the Pointers as the team earned the 4-1 victory.
Mahoney, Falk, Ruch and Gallow all recorded assists in the game.

UW-Stevens Point returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 8 when the team  travels to Northfield, Minn. to take on Carleton.
