Plagued by low participation and injuries the Cadott football team planned to cancel the high school football season. Cornell High faced the same situation.
Administrators, coaches and athletic directors from both schools got together and decided they could join forces to field one team.
Cadott School Superintendent Joe Zydowsky released this statement for clarification today on his blog.

Clarification on the Cadott/Cornell Football Merger
As the high schools in Cadott and Cornell continue to work through the details of the merger of the football programs for the 2012 season, there are many details being addressed.
To clarify, this merger is considered a lower-level, non-varsity co-op of the football programs between the two school districts. According to our membership rules, the combined non-varsity team is allowed to play exhibition games against other varsity programs, but the combined program for Cadott and Cornell is not an official WIAA approved varsity co-op.
There are official WIAA deadlines and procedures that could allow for the approval of a varsity football co-op program for future seasons, but that is a decision that would need to be made at a later time.
