Man convicted of robbing Wausau Credit Union sentenced

The 53-year-old man convicted of robbing a Wausau credit union will spend 15 years behind bars and 10 years extended supervision after that.

David T. Samuelson, who on June 12 pled no contest to one of the two charges and guilty to the other charge faced a maximum of up to $200,000 in fines or 80 years in prison for his latest crimes. According to police this was Samuelson's fourth robbery in 34 years.

In January, police say Samuelson walked into Tower Credit Union in Wausau, screamed at a teller, demanded money and slammed a handgun on the counter.

Police say Samuelson then fled the scene, got into the back of a parked vehicle and sped off. Officers from the Sheriff's Department and Wausau Police, along with two K-9 units, searched for Samuelson in the surrounding neighborhood before finding him an hour later near the west side of the river.

Police say roughly $3,200 dollars was taken. The money was later recovered.

At the hearing, Samuelson apologized to the court and to the five family members seated in the courtroom.
