UPDATE: Second person dies in buggy crash

The man injured in a buggy crash in Marathon County has died.

Daniel Beiler, 71, was in the buggy with his wife Mary, 73, when a pickup truck collided with the buggy. Mary was killed the night of the crash. Daniel was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.

Marathon County investigators say the two were involved in a buggy crash near Athens Tuesday night. It happened at Ivory Road and Townline Road in the Town of Johnson. Preliminary police reports show the driver of the buggy pulled out in front of a pickup truck.

The 44-year-old driver of the truck was not hurt.

Lt. Dale Wisnewski of the Marathon County Sheriff's Department said toxicology tests were being done, but that it appears alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.

No charges or citations have been filed pending the results of the investigation.
