Thursday Sports Report - 09/13/12

Area teams tried to hold on to their conference leads Thursday. On the volleyball court, Merrill visited DC Everest. The Blue Jays had won eight straight and thanks to a strong night from middle hitter Renee Sladek, Merrill came away with a 3-0 win to stay atop the Valley standings.

In valley soccer, Wausau East is 6-0 in conference play as it eyes its first conference crown since 1994. The Lumberjacks had little trouble with Merrill, scoring three times in each half en route to a 6-1 win.
