Marathon county leaders are discussing plans to remodel the
courthouse.
An outside firm has presented the county board with two
options, each costing more than 60 million dollars.
Officials say plans include, maximizing space, increasing
the size of the jail, and improving courthouse security
"I think what it really is, is trying to tell people look, we
recognize the fact that this building is getting older," said Kristi Kordus,
marathon county finance director. "We recognize that it was built in a
time where we didn't have the same concerns that we have today."
The idea to remodel started two years ago. The county board will meet
to discuss the proposed plans on Tuesday.
No timeline has been set to start
remodeling the courthouse.
